Mastery in Maths at Hayes Park School

At Hayes Park School we believe that with good teaching, appropriate resources, effort and a ‘can do’ attitude all children can achieve in and enjoy mathematics. Our year group based programme devised by the White Rose Maths Hub and supported by the NCETM (National Centre for Excellent Teaching in Mathematics) keeps the class working together on the same topic. It also at the same time addresses the need for all pupils to master the curriculum and for some to gain greater depth of proficiency and understanding. More time is spent on teaching topics to allow for this development and for sufficient practice to embed learning. Challenge is provided by going deeper rather than accelerating into new mathematical content.

Supporting mathematics at home 

Mathletics

Hayes Park School parents are able to further support their children’s mathematical development with Mathletics, an online learning space that has been designed to support the National Curriculum through the use of Maths activities. Children will have their own individual login and password to access the system. This will be written in their planner. 

MyMaths

MyMaths Hayes Park School subscribe to a website called MyMaths to aid children's learning of maths at home. MyMaths is a fully interactive online mathematics learning solution for all ages and all abilities. At Hayes Park we use it from Year 2 up to Year 6.

Everyone can enjoy 24 hour access at home, at school or on holiday! It is written by practising maths teachers for maths teachers and their pupils. It includes interactive lessons, games and worksheets linked to an assessment manager system that allows teachers to track the results and progress of all individuals. Your child will have their own log in and password which they will have been given by their class teacher. The games and lessons are available to access at any time.
